Luppo Hinricus Cramer found that the halogen substituted polyphenols were especially energetic developers, which led to the introduction of bromo- and chlor-hydroquionone under the name "Adurol" in 1895. It can be used in place of hydroquinone, and is one of the developing agents in LN-7.
